Wish Big!

Hi everyone!
Hope you had a great weekend! I made this fun card for my best friend's 30th birthday and I think it should get to her in time too!

I was inspired by Belinda's challenge and those this dress off which to base my card.

I definitely didn't use all the elements, but I like the black background with the vibrant colored flowers and the sash aka ribbon!

Anyone have any tips how to get rid of stray embossing powders...I used the embossing buddy thingy first over my paper, but still ended up with a few stragglers!

Have a great day!
Melissa

Just sittin' here thinking of you!

I loved this stamp set, On my Couch, when I saw it, but I waited to buy it. It has so many fun possibilities!

I used Taylor's Sketch challenge to help with the layout of my card.

The card uses Polka Dot Basics, Background Basics: Retro and On my Couch and the colors Enchanted Evening, Smokey Shadow and White.

Happy birthday

Good morning! The weather is finally cooling off a bit, which means fall will soon be here, may favorite season! I made this card with those thoughts in mind, although I'm not sure if blue mums exist!

I used Jen del Muro's SFYTT 26 for the layout of my card and the stamps from Autumn Abundance, Polka Dots Basics, Vintage Picnic for the sentiment.

August Blog Hop!!

I love this day...it's so fun to see what everyone has come up with! This month's theme: "August is the month that Papertrey celebrates all things autumn!" I played around with my Autumn Abundance set and practiced coloring with my Copics.

I definitely think of leaves when I think Autumn... the crunch under feet, raking them up and for my kids- jumping in the piles!

RSCC #15 and CPS #130

So I worked really hard on this card...starting it as a smaller size and then resizing the pieces for 5x7 card...but after all my work, I don't like it! I'm not sure what exactly I don't like...

I used a whole lot of stamps on this card and followed the CPS Sketch #130 as well as Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #15 . And this also qualifies for our Papertrey Princess Challenge given by Lee to use a sketch.

Thanks for stopping by and hope this card won't scare you away in the future!!

Ladybug Frame

My friend asked me to make a picture frame for her to give as a gift and wanted me to include ladybugs. This is what I came up with.

I first traced the frame onto the back of the paper so I knew where to cut, and I trimmed off a bit more on each outside edge. I painted the front and back of the frame a charcoal gray to match the Cosmo Cricket paper. Once it dried, I adhered the paper with Scor-Tape and stamped and colored the ladybugs. I added some diamond stickles to each one and adhered with pop dots.

SPCC #11

Hope you're having a great start to the weekend! This is my first time playing along with the Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combo . I don't have SU! colors, so I used Dark Chocolate, White and Spring Moss from Papertrey Ink.

I used In Bloom and create a background with the leaves. I then stamped the flowers twice each and cut the centers out to pop them up. The sentiment is heat embossed.

Thanks for having a look!

Welcome Little One

Hi everyone! I'm finding a spare minute to write this while my littlest one is napping...she's been sick, so time is scarce and so is sleep for all of us! I made this card for a friend's new baby.

I colored the pram with my copics and chose a fun background treatment inspired by Nichole Heady's card here . She is amazing...who else would have created such a great Halloween card with hot pink, red and orange! Isn't the pram cute... I would have loved something like that to push my babies around!

I also made the "from the desk of" template template to house the clothes for baby.

Beautiful Blooms Thank You

Thanks to everyone for the birthday greetings! I'm back with a card I made over the weekend using my new Beautiful Blooms set (I traded one of my neglected sets with a fellow PTI fan)! I stamped each branch in Ripe Avocado, and slightly moved the stamp and stamped again for a shadow effect. I also used Vintage Picnic for the thank you sentiment. Pretty clean and simple, which can be a nice change!!

Today...

is my 30th birthday...eeekk! I can't really believe that the 20's are over. But then again I physically feel much older than 30, LOL! I am looking forward to celebrating the day by going to the podiatrist and the ENT for my kids' appointments, followed by a gourmet lunch at Chick-fil-a! In all seriousness though, I am blessed with my beautiful husband and kids. I really do feel lucky to be where I am in life at this point and I wouldn't change a thing.

On a different note, I wanted to mention that I have my first blog post at The Hybrid Chick today. Find it here .

Here is a fun card that I made using a square of K & Co paper that I sewed some buttons onto, a piece of Fancy Pants paper, and a portion of raspberry fizz cardstock stamped with Background Basics: Retro.

Have a great day!

Moving away card

This is a card I made a few weeks ago to give to a family who is moving out of state from a group of people. I made it 5x7 and lined both sides of the inside of the card, to give plenty of space for everyone to sign.

I thought this was a very pretty combination of colors: melon berry, vintage cream and smokey shadow. Hopefully I can remember to use it again!

Baby shower gift

I made this "box" to fit a few baby clothes that my kids and I picked out to give to a friend for her baby shower. I got my color scheme from the clothes and went from there. I stamped the plaid background using Background Basics: Retro and the little onesie is stamped from Bitty Baby Blessings, cut out and poped up on the ribbon with foam tape.

I was able to fit in pants, long sleeve onesie-shirt, and a knit hat...pretty good! I hope that she will find a good use for the box too!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge 14

Here is the latest challenge from Dawn...those are some colors to put together! I thought the combination was very rich and regal looking- so I translated that into Damask!

I made a "grande" and "petite" version of the card! And used up most of the cardstock I had stamped!

I won some PTI buttons from the Paper Craft Connection blog a while ago and when I received them I was delighted to find an assortment of many colors! On this card I used some New Leaf colored buttons and paired them with strawberries from the Green Thumb set and the tiny ones from Vintage Picnic.

Scrapbook pages

It has been forever since I did any scrapbooking for my kids' albums. My daughter's scrapbook is suffering from second-child syndrome compared to the bursting-at-the-seams two full albums I did for my son! So, I worked on a few pages for Kennedy's album tonight using some photos from the enormous pile waiting to be scrapped from the last two years of her little life!

The first page I made following a sketch from the Basic Grey July newsletter and I used Basic Grey's Lemonade paper collection.

The second one uses Basic Grey again, Junebug papers. I sewed a zig-zag stitch along the edges of the papers. Both pages use Bazzill cardstock, Walnut Stain Distress Ink and sponge.

Papertrey Princesses Challenge

Pam has given us our next challenge! We are to use owls and have it be mailable, as in no bulky ribbon! I *think* mine would make it, but I did add buttons! I couldn't help but add this sentiment...to me, owls always look a little sad.

Happy Anniversary!

Tomorrow is my husband and I's (how do you say that??) wedding anniversary! Happy Anniversary honey!

I made him this card using digital papers from the Cafe Latte kit from The DigiChick .

I resized the images from 12x12 papers to 3x3 squares so that it would be better sized for a card format. All the edges are inked with a sponge and Ranger's Walnut Stain Distress ink. I punched out two small hearts and adhered them with foam tape, then tied around some rustic hemp twine. I love that I could have both sentiments that I wanted in the same font!

Some fun news...

I was asked to join the hybrid creative team at The DigiChick . Yay! I am very honored to be joining such a talented group of people!

Here's a card I created using on of their collaboration kits, Cherry Delight .

As you can see I am on a quilt-type card kick and using my new sewing machine! I bought a Janome Sew Mini a little while back, and I love it! It's very easy to use and super portable. You can find it on sale at Hancock's every couple of months.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about using digital papers and embellishments in hybrid cards and crafting!

Thanks for taking a look!

Quilty card

I was totally inspired by Belinda's beautiful card , so I decided to try one out with some gorgeous scraps I had left over. I machine stitched it together and I love the look! I didn't want to cover up too much of my hard work, so I left off a sentiment, but I did add the satin ribbon.
