PTI June Blog Hop

PTI June Blog Hop "Summer is FULL of so many wonderful colors, sights & sounds! This month your challenge is to get inspired by the lazy days of summer and reflect your inspiration in a project of your choice! Whether it be the colors in your favorite summer treats, the pattern on your bathing suit & beach towel or even the texture of the sand between your toes, use any or all of these things as a springboard for your design. Please be sure to share an image found online, in a magazine or a photo you have taken yourself that communicates your point of inspiration within the body of your blog post! With everyone's amazing contributions, this ought to be one of the most colorful Blog Hops yet! We look forward to seeing you there!"

So it's been awhile since I updated my blog...I haven't really been doing much creatively lately, but I'm not sure why. But I did make this fun project for our little friend's birthday and I realized that it perfectly fits the theme for the PTI June Blog Hop.

I made a Timeless Template called Pack a Picnic, which is easy to make and so cute! I lined the outside and inside with Cosmo Cricket papers from the Snorkel line. I stamped some adorable fish and an octopus from Kim Hughes' Ocean Friends stamp set and colored them with my copics. (I am brand new to Copics and somewhat anxious to share my coloring...let me know if you have any hints for me!)

I added swedish fish and gummy lifesavers (which fit the theme well, I thought) and inside the ribbon-wrapped tin is some money for the birthday girl to treat herself!

Thanks for looking!

"Thank you" picture frame

I was asked to make a frame as a thank you gift. It was really fun to create and I like how it turned out! The pandas, monkeys, tigers and lions represent the different classes at my son's preschool.

Special thank you to the PTI forum members who helped me to track down the tiger and panda stamps!! I used the "thank you" sentiment from Star Prints because I love the fonts so much! I blocked out the eyes for privacy reasons in the photo and I'm sorry the photo is not great. I was very difficult for photograph with the glass.

Thanks for looking!

A butterfly box

Ok, not really a box to put butterflies in (although I guess you could), but a box decorated with butterflies. I wanted to do something different than a card, so I found this cute box at my local big box craft store. I had made a few of these in the past and had enjoyed it.

I painted it a pewter gray and the drawers got vanilla, and then I covered it with this beautiful paper from the Ambrosia line by Basic Grey. I cut out a few butterflies, lined them with gems and adhered them to the top with some mini glue dots. Fun! I'm adding this to my Etsy shop in case you are interested!

Card for a (pregnant) friend

I have a friend who is pregnant and I wanted to make her and her husband a card to congratulate them. I didn't want to say "welcome baby" or something to that effect, as clearly the baby is not here yet! I made this card and I think that it fits what I was trying to do.

I used Background Basics: Retro for the plaid background ( I won this set from the May Blog Hop, thanks PTI!), the pram and sentiment come from Bitty Baby Blessings.

Here's the inside of the card:

I made an extra to put in my Etsy shop, so you can find it there if you are interested (top right hand side). Thanks for taking a look!

End of the year teacher gift

I found this adorable Imaginisce paper and wanted to use it for a gift for my son's preschool teacher. I used Lauren Meader's My Timeless Template called Perfect Matchbox for this project. I'm still deciding what to put in the box...chocolates and a gift card?? candle?

For her card, I was inspired by Melissa Phillip's card .

Being a teacher is the most important job in the world (after mommies and daddies!) and I hope that our teacher will know how much we appreciate her! She is an amazing person and we will miss being in class with her!

Papertrey Princesses Challenge #3

Today I worked on the third challenge for the Papertrey Princesses blogging group (members are listed below on right sidebar. Leah challenged us to do a one layer card with no other paper beside our card base and stamps only. This is not my usual style, so I was very intimidated! Finally, I just got down to work and made this card using the stamp sets "Life" and "Birds of a Feather".
